Can You Twist Your Tongue?

One of the favorite games of students is Tongue- twister.

 A tongue-twister is a phrase that is designed to be difficult to pronounce  properly, and can be used as a  word game.This challenges the children to be better in producing  sounds.

My student, Choonwoo, made a tongue twister and through practice, he was able to say it fast and enunciate the sentence well.

Most students are troubled by the speed of speaking of native English speakers. They're unhappy that they couldn't understand the message. 

One of the solutions I could think of is for them to listen to Steve Jobs. He doesn't speak fast and this video would show you.

A Very Easy English Song For Adult Beginners - Tom's Diner

Do you know what is an a cappella song? It is singing without the accompaniment of musical instrument. Tom’s Diner by Suzanne Vega is a great example. Below is the video of the song. Listen to it and be familiar yourself with the rhythm of English.This song has been the favorite of many adult  students who are just starting to learn  English. It's easy. Give it a try!

One Big Tip In Speaking : Enunciate

ENUNCIATE

I once had a student from Cambodia who was very talkative in English.Everything was perfect except one big problem- I couldn't understand what he was trying to  say most of the time. 

Enunciation plays a big part in speaking.You have to clearly say the words so that people would understand you.

After watching this short video clip from  Friends, an  American sitcom,you would understand more about enunciation. 
I suggest that you imitate the way they say their lines.
 Enunciate and have fun in studying English! 

Some tips on how to enunciate:

1.Speak slowly.


2. Open your mouth and say the words  a little louder.

 Just a trivia guys!  You should pronounce  Porsche as
"Porsha". This word derives from  German language words. They  do not have silent "e".

Regrets- a mistake that you did or didn’t do in the past
1. I should have done something.
2. I should not have done something.

Form:
Should /should not + have + past participle of the verb

Pronunciation:
Should have – shouldof

Sentence Examples:
• I shouldn't have shouted at you. I apologize.
• She shouldn't have left work yet. I'll call her office.
• I should have let her know what was happening but I forgot.
